September can be a chaotic time for many with start of a new academic year, education resumes, routines change and adaptation is required. This can be overwhelming if our mindset is not tuned in.
A healthy mind-set combines awareness, focus & resiliency. Achieving a strong mind set will embrace positive intentions rather than negative thoughts understanding that struggle is inevitable at some stage but it doesn’t have to affect your success!!!
5 steps to avoid self-destructive decisions:
Establish: The power of intention by building self -belief & setting out what YOU want to achieve/experience.
How: Create a mantra- a positive phrase or affirmative statement that you say to yourself for the purpose of motivation or encouragement.
Establish: Reflective time to avoid constant chaos.
How: Allow YOURSELF time to evaluate progress & decongest the mind to move forward & recognise new ideas & opportunities.
Establish: YOUR negative thoughts in a productive manner rather than supressing them.
How: Accept that negative thoughts are thoughts without inherent power. Try not to attach yourself to them which will give you the ability to view them from a different perspective. Replace the negative with a positive.
Establish: Mental Clarity to allow YOU to become aware of YOUR thoughts & emotions.
How: Meditation can be practised in different ways but ultimately allows YOU to connect with YOURSELF on a deeper level therefore reducing stress & anxiety.
“Yoga does not transform the way we see things, it transforms the person who sees it” (B.K.S Iyengar)
Establish: An exercise routine! The physical & emotional demands placed on YOU daily are more manageable when your mind & body are healthy.
How: Whether you undertake a Pilates/Yoga class, go for a walk outside, complete a home HIIT session, attend the gym or any form of physical activity.
“The mind when housed within a healthy body possesses a glorious sense of power” (Joseph Pilates)
